Home The JOPLIN(G) List is always ready to add new cousins, share information and lend a helping hand; however, there are a few pieces of information that you might need to get started. The following information concerning subscribing and unsubscribing is very important, and should be bookmarked, printed or filed. Whatever way you feel comfortable is fine, but make sure you can find the information in the future! You never know when it will come in handy...
Subscription/Unsubscription
Note:
Please do not send subscription messages to the list address (JOPLIN-L@rootsweb.com).
Only send them to the addresses listed below. We will all greatly
appreciate your assistance in this matter!
To subscribe to the mail mode,
please send an email message to JOPLIN-L-request@rootsweb.com with no text in the subject line, and only the
following text in the body of the message:
subscribe
Digest Mode
(one message every day or so including
all resent messages)
To subscribe to the digest mode, please send an email message to JOPLIN-D-request@rootsweb.com with no text in the subject line, and only the following text in the body of the message:
subscribe
NOTE: If you are already subscribed to one mode, first unsubscribe to that mode (directions below), and send a subscribe message to the desired subscription mode
Helpful Hints
If you do not want to miss any messages while you're away, please subscribe to the digest mode. You can then return to the mail mode, when you return. Or just contact the listowner for archives info.
The list is not moderated, but is also not USENET. Any message sent to the list will automatically be bounced back out to everyone on the list. While I in no way want to stifle free discussion, as list owner, I reserve the right to step in if a flame war erupts that becomes tedious for other subscribers, or if someone becomes unseemly (excessive use of profanity, for instance).
Sometimes the lists are slow, so give your mail a day or two, especially if you are subscribed to Digest Mode. If we're not posting many messages, subscribers won't see much message traffic in the in box. Want more messages, post more.
Another problem lies with your mail handler. List servers automatically read your mail address off your incoming message. Your mail header MAY have the wrong address in it. Send yourself a message to find out your outgoing address.
